Investment Associate

SUMMARY:
The requirement is for a highly self-motivated and driven investment professional to join a growing private equity company that mainly operates from Johannesburg

POSITION INFO:

This person will be responsible for supporting the two partners in the business with analysing new investment opportunities, monitoring the investment portfolio and reporting to investors and other stakeholders.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

• CA (SA), CFA, MBA, Masters in Finance or similar finance qualification

TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years’ experience in private equity, corporate finance or investment banking
• Excellent relationship building skills and communication abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and ensure daily deadlines are met
• Individual who can use initiative, take ownership and can question from base principles
• A focused individual who can execute effectively and timeously
• An ambitious and hard-working individual who is also a team player
• Background in engineering/impact/investing/medical/consumer products would be advantageous

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Analysing investment opportunities, including valuation, building financial models, pricing, due diligence under supervision
• Analysing the ESG risks, impact and opportunities for different investment opportunities
• Presenting investment opportunities to the Investment Committee
• Preparing offer letters, term sheets, investment committee reports and assisting with legal documents review
• Monitoring the performance of investments in the portfolio in line with the investment objectives
• Reporting on the performance of investments to various stakeholders
• Providing support to the management teams of portfolio companies, under supervision
• Completing all regulatory exams to be compliant with FAIS
• Assisting with the fundraising efforts, under supervision
