Investment Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is an established SME-focused investment organisation seeking a highly driven Investment Manager to join its investment team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for originating, assessing, structuring, and managing investment opportunities while balancing risk and return objectives.
This role is ideally suited to a finance professional with strong commercial acumen, a proven ability to assess investment opportunities, and the capability to build meaningful relationships within the SME ecosystem. The position offers significant exposure to deal origination, due diligence, portfolio management, and investment structuring activities.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Identify and originate new SME investment opportunities through market research and business development activities. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with business owners, industry stakeholders, and professional networks. Conduct detailed financial, operational, and commercial assessments of prospective investments. Perform comprehensive due diligence processes to evaluate business viability and potential risks. Build and maintain financial models, including revenue forecasts, cost analyses, risk assessments, and return calculations. Structure appropriate financing solutions aligned to investment objectives and risk-return parameters. Lead commercial negotiations and facilitate successful transaction outcomes. Prepare and present investment recommendations and reports to internal stakeholders. Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify potential risks and growth opportunities. Maintain ongoing engagement with portfolio companies to support business growth and sustainability. Stay informed on market trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes impacting investment decisions. Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Financial Accounting II (or equivalent). Minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in investment management, corporate finance, SME funding, or related financial services. Exposure to auditing, banking, financial accounting, sales, or marketing will be advantageous. Skills: Strong financial and commercial acumen. Financial modelling and analytical capabilities. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Strong relationship-building and networking abilities. Sound business judgement and problem-solving skills.
