JUNIOR IT TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY:
Provide hands-on IT support across the office and factory, ensuring computers, networks, CCTV cameras, biometric clocking systems and office equipment operate reliably. Assist employees with everyday technical problems and escalate complex faults where necessary.

POSITION INFO:
Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Computer Setup and User Support • Set up new computers, laptops, monitors, printers and related equipment. • Install, configure and update approved operating systems and software. • Troubleshoot everyday hardware, software, email and printing problems. • Assist employees with user accounts, passwords and access, subject to authorisation. • Maintain basic records of equipment, software installations and support requests. Networking and Cabling • Run, terminate and crimp network cables, including fitting RJ45 connectors. • Test cables, identify faults and replace damaged cables or connectors. CCTV Support • Assist with installing, connecting and configuring CCTV cameras and recording equipment. • Troubleshoot camera connectivity, power, recording and image-quality issues. • Check that cameras are operational and footage is recording correctly. • Escalate equipment failures or complex configuration issues to the relevant service provider. • HIK Vision • Label and organise cabling neatly and safely. • Assist with setting up and troubleshooting routers, switches, Wi-Fi and network connections. • Diagnose basic internet and local network connectivity problems. Biometric Clocking Systems • Assist with enrolling and removing employees on the biometric system following authorised instructions. • Troubleshoot clocking devices, connectivity and synchronisation issues. • Help HR and payroll retrieve attendance reports and investigate missing clockings. • Protect employee information and refer attendance-record changes for approval. Office Equipment and General Maintenance • Troubleshoot basic problems with printers, scanners and other connected office equipment. • Perform routine checks, updates and preventative maintenance. • Coordinate repairs with external service providers when required. • Follow company IT security procedures and maintain confidentiality. Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements • At least one year of practical IT support experience, including hands-on exposure to CCTV, network cabling and computer troubleshooting. • Experience crimping and testing network cables. • Ability to install software and set up computers and peripherals. • Basic understanding of Windows, Microsoft Office, networking and Wi-Fi troubleshooting. • Experience supporting biometric clocking systems would be advantageous. • Ability to communicate clearly in English and explain basic technical issues to users. • A relevant IT qualification or certification would be advantageous; practical experience is essential. • Tracking device installations and set up would be advantageous Key Competencies Practical problem-solving, attention to detail, patience, reliability, teamwork and a polite, helpful approach to user support.
