Java Developer Location Gauteng, Johannesburg-Onsite Job Type Contract - Full-Time Job Description The Java Developer is responsible for Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Object-Oriented Programming, Secure Coding, Integration Development. Key Responsibilities Develop, test, and deploy Java-based applications and services aligned with business needs. Analyse user requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Maintain and improve existing software by identifying and resolving defects and performance issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions within the banking environment. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability. Write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation. Ensure all development activities comply with internal policies, regulatory standards, and security protocols. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to the banking and finance sector. Support testing activities, including unit testing and integration testing, to ensure software quality. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the software development lifecycle. Required Qualifications Proven experience in Java development within a professional environment. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles. Experience working with Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) frameworks and technologies such as Spring and Hibernate. Familiarity with relational databases and proficiency in SQL. Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and RESTful web services. Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, preferably Agile. Education A relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Oracle Java Certification, AWS\/Azure Certifications. Experience 4-10 years Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications is advantageous. Exposure to secure coding practises and regulatory compliance in the financial sector is preferred. Knowledge and Skills Tools\/Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Git, Jenkins, Azure, AWS, GCP Leadership\/Management Skills: Technical leadership (Senior level), code reviews, peer mentoring Domain Knowledge: Enterprise application development, Agile delivery
