Position Type: Permanent Location: Centurion, Gauteng (Hybrid \/ Remote some of the time) Category: Legal & Compliance About the Opportunity A premier South African financial services and investments group is seeking a business-focused Retail Legal Counsel to protect, guide, and enhance its wealth and retail investment platforms. Operating in a hybrid model out of Centurion, you will be the legal partner to the retail business, providing critical support on LISP administration platforms, retail insurance products, individual retirement portfolios, and cutting-edge retail product development. Key Responsibilities Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate LISP SLAs, retail investment management agreements, client-facing documentation, product terms, marketing material, and data agreements. Strategic Advisory: Provide robust legal opinions on individual client queries, retail broker networks, and daily operational processes. Product Development Collaboration: Act as a legal advisor within multi-disciplinary project squads (including tax, marketing, IT, and compliance teams) to launch innovative new retail products. Risk & Governance Mitigation: Unpack and interpret legislative developments, maintaining internal controls to manage regulatory updates seamlessly. What We Are Looking For Qualifications: LLB degree, and a South African Admitted Attorney . Experience: 3-5 years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) , strictly preferred within a LISP platform, wealth management business, or retail investment space. Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of wealth platforms, retail client-facing structures, and retirement investment products. Regulatory Knowledge: Sound, working knowledge of the South African retail financial regulatory landscape, specifically: FAIS, FICA, CISCA, the Insurance Act, the Pension Funds Act, and POPIA. Advantageous: A CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation is highly valued.
