Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial acumen, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to managing both bookkeeping and related administrative functions. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the company.

What to Expect:

Accounting & Financial Administration

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero
Manage the full accunting function up to trial balance
Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Strong collections experience with particular reference to property industry
Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory submissions (e.g. PAYE, UIF, SDL)
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end audit preparations
Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting
Billings, collections, banking and payments

Payroll & Compliance Support

Prepare monthly payroll data and liaise with external payroll provider
Ensure compliance with SARS and other relevant legislation
Assist with submissions to external accountants and auditors as required

Administrative Duties

Manage filing and record-keeping of financial documentation
Liaise with suppliers, clients, and service providers regarding financial matters
Assist with company secretarial and compliance administration where necessary
Support the Financial Manager, General Manager or Director with ad hoc tasks and reporting

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 3 years' accounting experience
Proven experience using Xero Accounting Software is essential
Solid understanding of accounting principles and SARS regulations

Skills & Competencies

High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
