Laboratory Manager - Quality Assurance

SUMMARY:
Managing a high-tech laboratory and its equipment in Lichtenburg. This role will be responsible for managing all quality tests required within the budget for Africa. This entails managing the workload of seed analysts and temporary labour reporting into this role. Industry is agriculture - seeds.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a MSc degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or relevant field (PhD would be preferred)
• Experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis of biological samples
• Experience in current molecular methods and analysis
• Experience in current seed physiology and relevant analysis
• Knowledge of SAP

Responsibilities:

• Leading, motivating and developing people
• Running and maintaining of relevant hardware and software in the lab
• Track all samples and results progress, analysis of data and reporting on trends and customer requests
• Maintaining and troubleshooting of high-tech equipment in the lab
• Follow QMS system for the laboratory
• Ensure that all tests are being accurately performed and keeping track of all these samples for results and record keeping purposes.
• Conform to GLP principals and other prescribed quality systems and relevant regulations
• To ensure all relevant information is supplied timeously and accurately signing of on data integrity
• Responsible for new testing protocols in line with specialization, example new methods and techniques, related to business needs with a focus on cost saving
• To assist the Biotechnology and Physiology lab managers to ensure total quality per customer needs
• Communication of all results in a timely manner to internal and external customers
• Inventory planning and stock keeping
• Interaction with all vendors for contact negotiations and new technologies
• Participate in Global projects and surveys
• Strategic thinking
• Manage the QC budget with a focus on cost saving initiatives
