Lead Policy Analyst

SUMMARY:
To conduct financial sector prudential policy-related research and analysis in order to monitor and influence the policy positions of international financial sector standard-setting bodies.

POSITION INFO:

Detailed description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
ï‚· Implement the organisations micro-prudential supervision strategic objective.
ï‚· Analyse relevance/appropriateness of international standards on highly specialised fields in banking, insurance and financial market infrastructures, with a specific focus on financial market infrastructures.
ï‚· Develop/refine policy tools/frameworks on banking, insurance, financial market infrastructures, financial inclusion and all related Twin Peaks frameworks, with specific focus on financial market infrastructures.
ï‚· Administer and implement prudential policy and prudential policy tools.
ï‚· Design and implement cooperation and collaboration mechanisms with the organisation for the purposes of financial stability.
ï‚· Analyse domestic and global regulation and the impact of these in the fields of banking, insurance and financial market infrastructures.
ï‚· Monitor global prudential policy implementation frameworks and the impact of these on local regulatory frameworks.
ï‚· Provide highly specialised and detailed regulatory frameworks 
ï‚· Draft regulatory frameworks and instruments.
ï‚· Influence international standard-setting bodies.
ï‚· Represent the (PA) in Parliament and other fora on policy matters and legislation.
ï‚· Adopt and adapt international standards to South African requirements in order to be purpose specific in the Republic, yet compliant with international criteria.

Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
ï‚· Post-graduate degree in Law (preferable), Finance, Accounting, Insurance/ Banking or Economics; and
ï‚· 12 years’ experience in the financial markets infrastructure sector, financial sector or risk management environment.
Additional requirements include:
ï‚· financial sector, specifically the financial markets infrastructures;
ï‚· corporate governance and risk management practices and standards;
ï‚· international principles on financial market infrastructures;
ï‚· insurance core principles, solvency II or solvency assessment and management;
ï‚· banking core principles, Basel III;
