Lead R&D Engineer (Trackless Mining Equipment)

SUMMARY:
A permanent position exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Lead R&D Engineer with design and project management experience in heavy Industrial mining equipment. This position will be based in Krugersdorp.

POSITION INFO:
NON-NEGOTIABLE:
Experience in the design and development of trackless mining equipment for the underground mining market.

Qualifications:
B Eng Mechatronics/B Tech Mechatronics or BSc/B Eng Mechanical/B Tech with strong electronics exp or BSc/B Eng Electrical/Electronics/B Tech Electrical/Electronics with strong mechanical background.

Experience:

• 3 – 5 years’ experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Design experience.
• Experience in Mining Industry equipment advantageous.
• Project management experience

Responsibilities:

• Generation of 3-D CAD models.
• Electrical and electronic circuit design 24V DC up to 1000V AC.
• Design and draw looms and circuits.
• Responsible for accurate engineering drawing produced by drafting personnel.
• Drive train design.
• Familiar with mechanical structural design and welding processes.
• Familiar with machine and mobile hydraulic systems and processes.
• Operator Ergonomics.
• Evaluation of machine risks and hazards.
• Technical communication via manuals and information bulletins.
• Creation of accurate parts manuals.
• Practical validation of product design.
• Periodic field service and workshop support.
• Electrical and mechanical drawings to conform to national and international standards
