SUMMARY:
Lead SHE & Sustainability

POSITION INFO:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

  • Develop, implement and manage an approved strategy for SHE & Sustainability management in collaboration with each business unit and plant manager.
  • Develop, drive and communicate SHE initiatives and Sustainability focus areas and relevant policies in line with current thinking and best practices.
  • Align with the International Business on the approach and plans for the effective delivery of the SHE and Sustainability KPI’s.
  • Ensures that the business is aligned to ISO/international standards and that the necessary legislation is adhered to.
  • Direct the SHE & Sustainability function with respect to:
  1. Setting up of key performance indicators for the SHE & Sustainability function that are in line with Group
  2. The collection, aggregation and interpretation of data obtained from business and monitor actual versus targets with respect to KPIs
  3. Set up of standardised reports in line with Group and distribute such reports
  4. Validate measurement methodologies to ascertain the integrity of the underlying data and the reliability of reports
  5. Ensure best practices are adopted within the business
  6. Ensure sufficient bench strength of talent within the business
  7. Ensure Sustainability approach and strategy is aligned to the business delivery and contributes to overall value creation
  • Review and improve the systems and processes related to SHE & Sustainability
  • Work with operational SHE team members to establish the control environment that;
  1. Monitors and provides direction to mitigate SHE risk across the RSA business,
  2. Oversees and enforces management of policies, processes, systems and compliance,
  3. Conducts risks assessments and instils the discipline to close significant gaps in SHE risk management practices and
  4. Develop and manage organisational cultural initiatives that drive a safe and healthy culture.
  • Coaches and develops the SHE teams through strong leadership
  • Set up a stakeholder management framework around SHE and Sustainability ensuring proactive engagement with all internal and external stakeholders on SHE and Sustainability related matters while ensuring compliance, sound relationships and business development opportunities within the Sustainability space

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • Technical degree with experience in areas of as Safety, Health and Environment, development of Sustainability value creators or related fields

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the field of SHE management with experience in Sustainability related to Social and Environmental areas;
  • Advocacy with external stakeholders to influence policy
  • Influencing senior stakeholders
  • Talent Development
  • Execution of SHE practices to improve safety culture and behaviour
  • Working with industry bodies to further organisational goals
  • Exposure to cement manufacturing and cement applications would be advantageous

KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Single point of reference for SHE risks, including evaluation thereof and mitigating actions.
  • Agreed projects delivered within cost, timeline and quality expectations.
  • Effective SHE data tools, reporting, and dashboards across the RSA business.
  • Standardized (monthly, quarterly, and annual) and customized SHE & Sustainability reports across the RSA business.
  • Internal and external audit findings.
  • Compliance with all relevant country legislation.
  • Analyse, identify trends, initiate, mitigate, investigate and report on SHE and Sustainability.
  • Assurance to related social and ethics and other relevant committees.
  • Sound external and internal stakeholder relations.
  • Leveraging Digitalisation for improved performance
