PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To provide commercial management advice and support in practice formulation and associated best practice improvement tactics; enabling the provision of specialist commercial management expertise.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities will be varied and include the following critical performance areas:

Process:                 

  • Accountable for contributing to strategy enablement and implementation and delivery optimisation across an internal value chain, through best practice development and implementation
  • Draw on own technical and/or professional knowledge and experience to proactively develop alternatives and identify optimal best practice solutions for tactical problems
  • Plan to deliver work outputs related to a service or operational area, Manages interdependent functional activities, and directs best-practice priorities, standards and procedures to ensure efficiency within area of specialisation
  • Advise on the process to ensure the execution of marketing plans and initiatives in alignment with org. requirements, supporting the marketing strategy
  • Designs and develops concepts from inception to commercialisation by coordinating efforts between Inventors / End Users / Sales / Marketing / Product Design Team
  • Develop and manage new business relationships and partnerships and ensure growth in the channel.
  • Work with Retail solutions team to ensure that product mix and channel mix planning is aligned with Group commercial targets
  • Seek opportunities to exploit for future development and growth
  • Analyze sales, marketing, finance and other reports to gain insights into how to improve performance and maximize growth
  • Evaluate and provide analysis to management for new products and market opportunities
  • Make recommendations to existing products based on market needs, product performance and competitor analysis to increase sales volume and profitability
  • Ensure business retention through the development of applicable sales techniques such as rate negotiations, product comparisons; changing perceptions
  • Review the effectiveness of operational org. performance processes and procedures and make improvement recommendations
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions
  • Ensure effective communication and customer understanding of org. brand messages, products and services to achieve sales targets and goals
  • Develop market position through advising on the identification of target markets, building relationships, negotiation and closing business deals
  • Customer: Provide authoritative, specialist expertise and advice to internal/external customers, that builds strong relationships and creates a favourable impression aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles
  • Finance: Implement and monitor financial controls, management of costs and corporate governance throughout the area of specialization
  • Learning and Growth: Contribute positively to human capability improvement, related to knowledge optimisation and associated with area of specialisation
  • Governance: Develop and/or align governance and compliance policies for own practice and/or tactical area to identify and manage risk exposure liability related to the area of specialization
  • Problem Solving and Analysis: The ability to systematically identify, analyse and resolve existing and anticipated problems through proactive identification of problems, determining their cause and impact and choosing the best alternative to solve the problem
  • Relationship Management and Networking: The ability to form and sustain relationships with a key client base
  • People Management and Empowerment: Understands and applies more complex concepts and methods. Leads and directs people or groups of recognised specialists
  • Organisation and Attention to Detail: Manages the activities of a work team under ones supervision
  • Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking: Maintaining quality standards service and desired outputs within functional area of responsibility
  • Professional/Technical learning: Acquisition of professional knowledge and skills within a discipline
  • Insurance products and services: Applies concepts of knowledge and skill without requiring supervision
  • Product Development: Applies concepts of knowledge/ skill and requires guidance but not constant supervision
  • Insurance principles and practice: Proficient in understanding and application of processes and related activities
  • Research and Information Gathering: Applies concepts of knowledge/ skill without requiring supervision; also able to provide technical guidance when required

REQUIREMENTS:

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)
  • CFP
  • Actuary (added advantage)

 

Requirements:

  • 8/10 years Business Development/ Commercial Experience
  • Track record of physically selling to institutions
  • Track record on cold calling
  • Networking Direct Sales
  • Filling in tenders (Public)
  • Ability to generate his/her own leads (Hunter Experience)
  • Must have a clear understanding of the Investment Consultant Space
  • Must have Retirement Fund and Employee Benefits experience
