Legal & Compliance Manager

SUMMARY:
A leading and innovative renewable bio-resource company is searching for a Legal & Compliance Manager with a philanthropic attitude to join their team. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the group compliance and legal functions. The position is better suited to an Admitted Attorney who has a well-rounded corporate commercial experience with good knowledge of compliance risk management.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• LLB or similar qualification.
• Admitted Attorney.
• Compliance risk management qualification or experience will be highly beneficial.
• Minimum of 3 years post admission experience or legal and compliance experience.
• Sound knowledge of Company Law (i.e., The Competition Act, Companies Act, global data protection and anti-bribery, anti-corruption laws), general legislation and legal processes.
• Good communication (written and verbal), networking and influencing skills.
• Discretion when handling confidential information.
• Keen eye for detail.

 Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

The Legal & Compliance Manager’s duties shall include, but not be limited to:

• Conducting audits efficiently and effectively in accordance with the audit plan to identify and report significant legal control weaknesses within the Group. This includes audit planning, preparation, execution, and reporting.
• Identifying, recommending, and implementing operational improvements to legal and compliance review processes.
• Identifying emerging compliance trends, including related regulatory and policy issues that may impact on the Group’s business. Making recommendations and devising an engagement strategy.
• Prioritize and analyze laws and regulations applicable to the Group companies.
• Drafting and vetting of legal agreements.
  • Reviewing contracts before inception and renewal to ensure their legal accuracy.
  • Effectively deal with both written and verbal correspondence that have a legal bearing on the Company.
  • Litigation and advisory.
