SUMMARY:

Job Purpose 

POSITION INFO:

Formal Education

1. Grade 12
2. Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
3. Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa

1. Minimum of 2-3 years post-admission experience in a corporate legal department or reputable law firm
2. Demonstrated experience in corporate commercial law which includes contract drafting, commercial transactions, and legal advisory services
3. Exposure to ICT sector or understanding of technology contracts (advantageous)
4. Experience with public procurement frameworks and data protection regulations (beneficial).
5. Understanding of South African commercial law (required)

Key Skills and Capabilities

1. Basic understanding of contract law and ability to assist in contract review
2. Ability to conduct legal research and summarize findings
3. Familiarity with South African regulatory frameworks (incl. POPIA, PAIA, PFMA, and PPPFA)
4. Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
5. Attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
6. Ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks under supervision
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
8. Willingness to learn and grow within the legal team

Technical / Legal / Certification

1. Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
2. Valid driver’s license
3. Additional certifications in contract management, compliance, or data privacy (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with the review and drafting of basic legal agreements and documentation
2. Support the legal team in regulatory research, legal updates, and tracking compliance
3. Contribute to the preparation of responses to RFQs, tenders, and public sector proposals
4. Maintain legal templates, document libraries, and filing systems
5. Escalate legal risks and complex issues to the Senior Legal Advisor or Legal Manager
6. Assist with internal legal queries from business units
7. Observe confidentiality and promote compliance with legal ethics
