POSITION INFO:

Qualification and Experience
â€¢ Bachelorâ€™s degree and admission as an attorney.
â€¢ Minimum five yearsâ€™ experience in a Commercial / Corporate / Commercial Litigation / Insurance
Litigation Attorney capacity.
â€¢ Experience in Financial Services environment advantageous.
â€¢ Experience in technical legal interpretation, application and implementation.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
â€¢ Lead the business in achieving legally and commercially sound outcomes and support business
interactions with external service providers and stakeholders.
â€¢ Anticipate and manage the legal risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and
operations, ensuring minimum legal exposure for the organisation.
â€¢ Manage the negotiation and implementation of commercial legal projects and transactions.
â€¢ Assess the impact of legislative and/or regulatory developments on business and ensure overall
compliance of business operations with all relevant and applicable laws and regulations.
â€¢ Provide commercial legal advice and solutions to all areas of the business (including its
subsidiaries and affiliates).
â€¢ Provide effective and practical legal solutions aligned to business needs.
â€¢ Draft and review complex commercial and insurance legal agreements.
â€¢ Facilitate regulatory/legislative compliance.
â€¢ Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities
etc).
â€¢ Manage non-claims litigation mattersÂ

Knowledge and Skills
â€¢ In-depth experience and expertise in insurance, commercial or business law (preferably mergers
and acquisitions, corporate finance or banking and finance).
â€¢ Legal strategist with business acumen.
â€¢ Reviewing and drafting of complex commercial and insurance legal contracts.
â€¢ Interpersonal skills.
â€¢ Microsoft Office Suite.
â€¢ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
â€¢ Ability to build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.
â€¢ Ability to interpret and analyse information.
â€¢ High degree of self-management, displaying an organised and measured approach.
â€¢ Leadership skills - ability to give direction to achieve desired outcomes and objectives or
purpose.
â€¢ Attention to detail.
â€¢ Risk management skills
