Legal Counsel

A typical day may include:

• Advises on a variety of legal issues and legal risks;
• Explains legal language;
• Draft, review, edit, interpret, advise, and negotiate on contracts and other legal documents;
• Oversee all contractual obligations of the company;
• Provide technically sound legal opinions;
• Research and report on unique legal issues impacting the business;
• Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the business;
• Provide legal input into financial planning and reporting process;
• Provide advise on labour law related employee issues and human resource matters;
• Communicate and serve as a liaison for external parties including external counsel, public authorities, and union representatives;
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders;
• Maintain professional and timely communications;
• Document and maintain legal files and issues;
• Reporting;

Qualifications we look for:

• Matric / Grade 12;
• Degree in Law;
• Admitted Attorney;

Experience we look for:

• Minimum 4 years post admission legal experience;
• Commercial law experience;
• Experience in ensuring compliance with municipal laws;
• Experience in reviewing enders / contracts with private and government entities;
• Strong analytical and research skills;
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
• Excellent writing and reviewing (edit) skills;
• Ability to work well within a team and individually;
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks;
• Honesty, decisiveness, and integrity;
• The ability to solve problems;
• Discretion, diplomacy, and tact;
• Works well under pressure;
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
