An established technology-focused organisation is seeking a senior Legal Counsel to lead intellectual property strategy, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance across the business.

• • Legal Counsel (Intellectual Property & Commercial Law) – Modderfontein – R55 000 to R60 000 CTC

    An established technology-focused organisation is seeking a senior Legal Counsel to lead intellectual property strategy, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance across the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and protect the organisations IP portfolio (patents, designs, trademarks) across its full lifecycle
    • Provide strategic legal input on technical and innovation-driven projects
    • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts
    • Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks
    • Monitor regulatory developments and manage legal risk
    • Oversee legal governance and guide senior stakeholders

    Key Requirements

    • LLB degree (required)
    • Minimum 8 years experience in IP law (patents & designs), commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance
    • Strong knowledge of litigation processes
    • Engineering qualification (electrical/electronic) advantageous
    • Proven strategic, analytical, and leadership capability
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills
