Lodge Accounting Officer

SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking for  Lodge Accounting Officer to join their team

POSITION INFO:
Location: Sandton, Johannesburg

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management

• Authorise and allocate business expenditure appropriately.
• Apply critical thinking to evaluate proposed expenses and ensure they are necessary, fair, and within market standards.
• Record transactions accurately and on a daily basis using systems such as Panstrat or manual methods.
• Prepare supplier payment requests and assist in payroll preparation and reconciliations.
• Handle general ledger queries and ensure timely resolution.
• Reconcile all balance sheet items and maintain up-to-date stock records.
• Interpret and analyse management accounts for performance insights.

• Meet key finance-related deadlines consistently.
• Provide timely, accurate feedback on management accounts to the Regional Finance Manager.
• Lead monthly finance meetings, communicate outcomes, and escalate to regional finance as needed.
• Assist in compiling budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Support lodge managers and directors with financial queries.
• Aid with year-end audits and reconciliation of accounts, including inter-lodge transactions.
• Supervise finance staff to ensure all duties align with required outputs.

• Maintain and enforce stock control procedures.
• Participate in month-end stock takes.
• Monitor, design, and update internal control systems. Conduct internal audits and spot checks as needed.
• Investigate and follow up on any losses or potential losses.
• Ensure accurate recording, protection, and proper use of company assets.
• Oversee petty cash, mobile wallets, and bank accounts.
• Conduct audits of safari shop systems and spending to ensure adherence to budget.

• Provide PanStrat system support to staff.
• Train lodge staff in basic accounting principles and practices.
• Review and train front-of-house staff on relevant systems and procedures.

• Finance degree or relevant qualification (CPA preferred).
• 3–4 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with PanStrat software is advantageous.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
