Logistics Controller

SUMMARY:
An established organisation within the supply chain and logistics environment is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Logistics Controller to manage and coordinate end-to-end export and local logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient shipment execution, regulatory compliance, cost control, and accurate system management within SAP. This role requires strong analytical ability, stakeholder engagement, and the capability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION INFO:
Logistics Controller (Exports & Distribution)
Location: South Africa, Gauteng
Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end export logistics process, including order processing, vessel bookings, shipment tracking, and coordination with freight forwarders and shipping lines.
• Ensure the accurate preparation and management of export documentation such as bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, and compliance with customs and export regulations.
• Coordinate local transport and distribution activities, including stock transfers, dispatch planning, transporter performance monitoring, and invoice verification.
• Maintain accurate logistics transactions and financial controls within SAP, including purchase orders, GRVs, service entries, and freight cost management.
• Monitor shipment performance, including OTIF delivery, freight cost tracking, and the preparation of operational reports to support planning and decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

• Strong working knowledge of SAP logistics processes (essential).
• Solid understanding of export logistics, shipping lines, port operations, and road transport.
• Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, solution-driven mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
