MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS MANAGER (AUTOMOTIVE) – Pretoria

International automotive component manufacturer needs to appoint a competent and effective Operations Manager reporting to the Managing Director. Sound management and IR skills

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 + Mechanical / Electrical Engineering diploma or degree
• 10 years’ relevant manufacturing experience of which at least 5 years must be within a management role
• Expert level understanding of lean manufacturing principles to ensure JIT
• The ideal candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of operational excellence in a manufacturing environment
• A strong understanding of Six Sigma methodologies
• Areas of responsibilities, production, maintenance, quality assurance, projects, process improvement and cost reduction
• Manage various production operations and processes to achieve planned production targets
• Ensure compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements

Duties

• Monitor and manage the plant of 200 heads for optimal output and on time delivery
• Optimize costs and ensure that all operating expenses are within the budgets
• Head and promote CIP in the plant to ensure continual improvement on all levels
• Liaise with sales and production with regards to achieving budgeted and forecast turnovers
• Ensure budget versus actual expenses for the plant
• Monitor productivity levels and equipment efficiencies
• Ensure customer concerns are resolved effectively and promptly
• Ensure smooth operational effectiveness of all areas
• Benchmark, review meetings and problem solving through Six Sigma techniques and process analysis
• People management, motivation and development
• Continual improvement programs through extensive employee participation
• Process development, flow charts, FMEA, control plans, work instructions and audit schedules
