SUMMARY:
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and driven Warehouse and Planning Manager to lead and optimise their warehousing and materials planning function. This role is suited to a hands-on leader with strong operational, planning, and systems experience within a manufacturing, OEM, or heavy industry environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient warehouse operations, accurate inventory management, effective materials planning, and strong team leadership, while driving continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.

Duties & Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Risk Management
- Implement and enforce health, safety and environmental standards
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions
- Promote a safety-first culture within the warehouse
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee inbound, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch processes
- Optimise warehouse layout, bin locations, and material flow
- Implement best practice warehousing principles such as lean and Kanban
- Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Inventory Management
- Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy between physical stock and ERP systems
- Manage cycle counts, stock reconciliations, and variance resolution
- Maintain MRP and ERP data integrity
- Implement inventory controls such as safety stock and reorder points
- Reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving stock
Materials Planning and Scheduling
- Convert forecasts and demand into actionable plans
- Improve planning accuracy and responsiveness
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting supply and production
Digitalisation and Reporting
- Drive effective use of ERP and warehouse management systems
- Develop and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools
- Promote data-driven decision-making
- Lead digitalisation and process improvement initiatives
Customer Delivery
- Align warehouse and planning outputs with customer delivery requirements
- Coordinate with procurement, projects, and customer support teams
- Ensure accurate and timely dispatch processes
- Resolve delivery challenges and escalations
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal controls
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness
- Address non-conformances and implement corrective actions
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and planning teams
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs
- Identify skills gaps and implement training plans
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Experience & Qualifications
Qualifications
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Experience
- 5–8 years’ experience in warehouse management and materials planning
- Experience within OEM, mining, or heavy manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of MRP planning and inventory control
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Infor/Baan, or similar
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
