Job Description:

Toolmaking and Co-Ordination Requirements:

Attend to All Tooling Breakdowns and Resolution Progress Reporting, as required until Resolution.
Carry out activity to repair/resolve breakdown of tooling. Also considering Time/Cost& Quality.
Tooling Downtime Analysis and corrective Action Reporting, with support of the Department Manager.
Co-Ordinate all Tooling Maintenance, according to set schedules.
Conduct Tooling Maintenance to set prescribed requirements.
Mould Shot Counter Accurate Record Keeping.
System Implementation and Control.
Completing of Tooling Maintenance Checklists and Documentation, within the timeframes and in the correct format.
Ability to Detect and Report all Tooling Abnormalities found during services, to be included as critical future check points to forthcoming services.
Maintain optimal mould performance by identifying mould performance issues, together with the planned corrections thereof.
Assess and Improve on the Development of Current Standards and Practices.
Co-ordinate the tooling related activities to support new or relocation project activities, as per committed timing.
Assisting in the reviewing of new products and moulds, to determine manufacturability at plant level.
Debug new tooling and offer design performance enhancements.

Record Keeping of Tooling Drawings and Specifications, Grain / Texture Specifications, Mould Flows, Tooling Hardware & Auxiliaries, Tooling BOMs, Hot Runner Diagrams and Spare Parts Lists.
Identify complex tooling issues and effectively find solutions, with support of the Department Manager.
Support production needs through enhancing and upgrading existing production moulds, to improve part quality and improve downtime.
Assessing/diagnosing problems and implementing corrective modifications to injection moulds
Control of all Tooling Date Coding is according to Customer Traceability requirements.
Training of Junior Toolmakers and/or Apprentices, on Tooling Maintenance requirements and system.
Assessment of trained apprentices on training provided.
Ability to read/use CAD would be an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret die, mould, and product drawings.
Problem Solving and Reporting on all Tooling Abnormalities, to ultimately prevent re-occurrence.
Implementation and Support 5S in the Tool-Room and drive the relevant requirements to ensure storage standardization. (All Hand Tools and Machinery, Cleaning Equipment and Liquids, Tooling Storage Locations, Lifting Equipment, etc.)
Training and maintaining workplace safety standards and a safe working environment.
Tooling and Tool Strip Down Areas - Continuous Improvement Champion.
Control, Inspection, Certification and Storage of All Tool Lifting Equipment.
Tooling SMED - Team Member.
Engineering Change Request – Team Member.

Job Requirements:

Relevant qualification in Toolmaking, or extensively experienced in the role, or plans to qualify as a Toolmaker.
Extensive knowledge of Injection Moulding Process, to support Tooling Improvements or Corrections.
2 – 3 years relevant experience in Plastic Injection Moulding in a tool room environment.
