Maintenance Supervisor

SUMMARY:
A remote safari lodge in the Waterberg is seeking a hands-on and dependable MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR to join their team.

POSITION INFO:
This role suits a skilled, self-reliant tradesperson with supervisory experience, who takes pride in keeping a bush property safe, functional, and guest-ready. Core Criteria: Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a safari lodge or remote hospitality setting Proven experience supervising or leading a team Strong hands-on skills across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, welding, and general repairs Trade qualification (electrician, plumber, carpenter, or similar) advantageous Valid driver's licence Working knowledge of generators and water treatment systems preferred Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently in a remote location Sound leadership, planning, and organisational skills Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Clear communicator who works well with other departments Calm under pressure and able to respond to emergencies Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather Core Responsibilities: Implement and manage a preventative maintenance programme across guest rooms, public areas, staff accommodation, and back-of-house Carry out regular inspections and address faults promptly Maintain generators, solar systems, boreholes, pumps, filtration, sewage systems, and firefighting equipment Supervise, train, and motivate the maintenance team Allocate daily and weekly tasks and monitor progress against deadlines Enforce safety protocols and correct use of tools and equipment Keep guest areas to luxury standards and resolve guest-related issues discreetly Work closely with Housekeeping and Front-of-House to resolve room and public area defects Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations Conduct risk assessments, report hazards immediately, and keep safety equipment and emergency systems operational Ensure safe storage and handling of tools, chemicals, and hazardous materials Support water, power, and waste management initiatives in line with conservation principles Report to the Resident Manager On Offer: Salary of R13,000 per month CTC Live-in position in a remote bush environment Food and uniform provided Three weeks on, seven days off 5% provident fund contribution (compulsory membership; not part of the CTC package)
