Management Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Management Accountant to act as a critical bridge between the Finance Manager and operational management.

POSITION INFO:
This role focuses on cost control, budgeting, stock management, and fixed asset oversight within a mining or manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong accounting foundation and the ability to translate financial information into actionable insights for business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, monitor, and analyse budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives
• Maintain and monitor cost control processes, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
• Manage stock, inventory, and fixed assets, ensuring accurate recording, valuation, and reporting
• Act as a bridge between the Finance Manager and operational management, providing meaningful financial analysis to support decision-making
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, highlighting key insights, trends, and areas of concern
• Collaborate with the Finance Manager to support strategic planning, performance monitoring, and financial controls
• Support month-end close activities, reconciliations, and internal reporting
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control

• CA(SA) or CIMA qualified (CA(SA) advantageous)
• Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a mining or manufacturing environment
• Proven experience in cost accounting, budgeting, stock and fixed asset management
• Strong understanding of management accounting principles and reporting requirements

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills
• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between finance and operational teams
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
