Management Accountant

Our client, a well-established JSE-listed mining company, is seeking a skilled Management Accountant to join their finance team. This role offers excellent exposure to a complex mining environment, where you will work closely with operations and senior finance leadership to drive profitability, improve cost controls, and support strategic decision-making through strong financial insights.
The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and management reporting, ensuring the business has accurate and timely financial information to support operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with operational teams.
• Monitor and analyze operational costs, ensuring cost control and improved profitability.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and performance improvement.
• Assist with statutory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function and reporting processes.

Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:

• BCom Accounting / Finance (minimum requirement)
• CIMA qualification / progress towards CIMA highly advantageous

Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a Management Accounting role
• Mining or heavy industrial experience highly advantageous
• Exposure to working in a listed / corporate environment beneficial
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost management experience

Skills:

• Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
• Experience working on ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / JD Edwards or similar)
• Strong financial analysis and reporting capability
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with operational stakeholders
