Manager Engineering: with 10 Years’ experience as Section Engineer: Mining Industry: Northern Cape

The call is for an experienced and qualified Engineer to take responsibility for managing and coordinating the engineering and operational activities. Act as custodian of Engineering process and systems at CLIENT in accordance with legislation. Implement Engineering best practices to stay abreast with latest technology.

Minimum Requirements:

• Certificate: Grade 12
• Degree: Mechanical / Electrical Engineer
• Certificate: GCC: Mines and Works
• Managerial Development Program (NQF 7) recommended

Experience and Requirements:

• 10 Years’ experience as a Section Engineer in within an underground mining operations environment
• Continuous experience as a Legal appointed 7.4/3.1(a)
• 7 Year’s Management experience
• Valid Driver’s License Code B/EB
• Demonstrated & strategic thought leadership of multi-site Engineering and Maintenance teams

Technical Skills:

• Proven experience leading and implementing
• Engineering Operational Excellence priorities
• Broad technical knowledge engineering systems, design, applications of engineering processes and materials, and engineering applications of current engineering technologies.
• Well conversant with all the applicable mining statutory codes and regulation

Knowledge and Skills:

• Conduct the duties and responsibilities of an appointed 7.4/3.1 (a) manager
• Computer Literate (Microsoft Office)
• System Skills: (JDE, Oracle, Enterprise Resource Planning & IMS Information Management Systems).
• Legal, statutory, and regulatory compliance on all requirements is implemented and maintained for function.
• Optimize the function's core internal processes and internal supply chain.
• Resolve cross-functional operating conflicts through development of processes, standards, and directives.
• Integrate, align, and drive change initiatives. Walk the talk and motivate others to implement change programs
• Ensure that mechanisms to reduce risk to the business are implemented that ensure all legislative, accreditation and governance requirements are met.
• Engage with subordinates once removed to encourage and recognize improvement. Approve innovations and provide the means for implementation. Implement operations effectiveness model and practice.
• Ensure business plan is implemented in a manner that supports operational, quality and market imperatives.
• Evaluate contractor services prior to appointment. Approve and ensure adherence to SLAs.
• Assess requirements for engineering facilities and resources and approve plans.
• Act as custodian of Engineering process and systems on the Mine. Ensure continuous improvement in the department. Co-develop and sign-off Engineering procedures, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure procedures are captured accurately.
• Create Engineering Services organizational structure with staff compliments and obtain approval.
• Ensure equipment purchased is in line with requirements.
• Implement engineering best practices to stay abreast with latest technology.
• Remain up to date with macro and micro-economic conditions, legislation, competition, market sentiment and the industry in general. Anticipate and plan for circumstances that may influence the development and implementation of the functional strategic plan.
• Accountability for the function's performance, within the agreed strategic framework.
• Develop and implement the functional strategic plan in support of the overall business plan.
