JOB SUMMARY:
A leading Company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of pesticides, fertilizers, and other agricultural chemicals requires the above to achieve strategic Company business objectives by implementing effective tactics in line with Company procedures and policies for the Group as well as build and maintain the Company sales strategy and Customer service-objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:
  • A tertiary qualification in Agriculture or BComm degree or related qualification is preferably required for this role. An MBA qualification will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience having worked in a General Manager or Managing Director or related Senior Management / Executive Level role within the agricultural and or agrichemical or related markets is essential for the role.
  • The successful candidate must have strong leadership and strategic skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and people skills.
  • Proven skills in management, supervision, leadership etc is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, administrative, and financial management systems is essential.
  • Strong and proven track record of achieving results and working closely with a Board of Directors.
  • Previous experience working with corporate governance principles, strategic and operational management concepts, principles and processes and agrichemical industry fundamentals and the competitive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Driving the growth strategy for the South African and Africa regions with responsibility for all activities.
  • Providing strong leadership and general management functions working closely with the Executive Team.
  • Ensuring effective planning, budgeting and control over the application of Financial and Human Resources towards the successful achievement of Business Unit targets and objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective team capable of collectively achieving the Department’s objectives.
  • Ensuring best performance by all direct reports in the execution of their duties and responsibilities according to prescribed requirements.
  • Analysing market dynamics and identifying effective strategies.
  • Promoting the Business to prospective Clients and Agents.
  • Building and maintaining sound and productive working relationships with Suppliers, Customers, Agents and Key Players in the industry.
  • Leading the strategy formulation process in determining the required objectives, initiatives and resources needed to satisfy the expectations of all Stakeholders.
  • Ensuring Senior Managers develop annual strategic objectives, budgets and implementation plans for their Departments that is aligned with the Group strategy.
  • Maintaining oversight over strategic and operational management processes to ensure the efficient and effective execution of strategy along with the judicious application of Company resources.
  • Representing the interest of the Company in its dealings with external Stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying issues for Stakeholder engagement and providing feedback to Members on stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensuring that the total Group budget (income, expenditure and capital) is effectively compiled and managed.
  • Through functional and transformational leadership steering and developing the Management Team to deliver professionally and sustainably on the strategy by having a passion for the vision as well as the values of the Company.
Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
