Managing Director - Collections, Sandton– R 660 000 CTC

SUMMARY:
Based in Bryanston, this group at the top of their game with a focus on facilitating loans. Due to their growth, they require an MD: Collections to join the senior management team immediately

POSITION INFO:

The role will see you working closely with the CEO, COO & Chief of Legal of the group in generating & implementing collections strategies

Having knowledge of Sectional Title Act, Gated Communities, Sectional Title Ownership, Home Owner Associations, Bodies Corporate will have you with one foot in the door.

Minimum requirements:

Essential:

• LLB / Bachelor of Laws
• Minimum direct hands on collections experience with at least 5 years’ experience in a levy collections environment
• Experience in managing staff
• Possess intimate knowledge of collection processes in the community scheme levy debt collection environment, business rescue, liquidation & sequestration procedures & insurance industry knowledge
• Knowledge of prescription & in duplum principles

Advantageous:

• Debt collection qualifications
• Membership/accreditation  of any debt collection bodies or associations
• Knowledge of the legal concept of “Subrogation” within the insurance industry

Duties & responsibilities:

• Develop collection strategies in line with the group’s overall debt collection strategic requirements;
• Define relevant Key Performance Indicators for the team to achieve the overall collections & company strategies;
• Support the Collections Manager to define operational objectives for the team;
• Manage the timeous & accurate processing of payments to third party providers in line with standing contracts;
• Review & approve all outgoing refunds;
• Review matters that may carry risk & provide a risk mitigation strategy;
• Review & sign-off on all insurer settlements;
• Oversee contractual risk (per the agreement with MFRF) & develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies;
• Ensure that sufficient vetted legal service providers are properly contracted & held accountable in terms of established & agreed performance matrices as entrenched in their contract;
• Establish performance matrices for legal service providers; monitoring collection progress with regular reporting on collection statistics & reporting on deviations from agreed risk parameters;
• Resolve complex & difficult collection matters & personally drive these matters to completion;
• With the support of the Collections Manager, develop departmental resource structures to ensure that the team is running efficiently & effectively;
• Continually assess the debt management system (levy debt collections) to ensure efficiency of the system & make recommendations for improvement;
• Manage the overall relationship with the various collection attorneys;
• Create & present meaningful reports for EXCO & MANCO

Remuneration & benefits:
