1. Preferably a trade certificate in motor/motorcycle, as we are doing with our apprentices.
2. Experience in marine outboard maintenance/repairs
3. Boat rigging experience
4. Fault finding and diagnostics

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

• To be responsible and accountable for developing, applying, and maintaining technical knowledge, standards and service delivery within the marine technical division.

CRITICAL OUTCOMES REQUIREMENT

1.

Products for service, repair and warranty evaluation

• Conduct visual inspection and/or on-board diagnosis during the pre-diagnosis step
• Conduct work preparation in accordance with correct procedure and predicted job requirements
• Prepare operating equipment and bring necessary parts to the workshop bay according to correct internal procedures
• Conduct the repair and / or maintenance according to manufacturer’s specifications, job knowledge and skill
• Identify deviations, irregularities and unusual wear and tear and initiate additions to order / feedback to customer
• Retrofit accessories and mounted parts as required
• Document any work carried out, recording working hours and report to the Marine Technical Manager
• Carry out duties on site at dealers / customers when required

Product Support

• Monitor, service and maintain demonstration/company units
• Assemble stock as directed
• Conduct PDI and warranty procedure
• Un-crate & re-crate units as required
• Carry out product modifications and product recalls
• Co-operate with and support Motor product divisions as required from time to time (motorcycles, power products, golf cars, marine and technical support services)
• Receive instructions and carry out requirements for product recalls:
  • Advise Technical & Warranty Managers of requirement
  • Receive delivery of replacement parts
  • Carry out necessary work to complete recall if required
  • Support current and new model evaluation and introduction processes
    • Assemble, PDI and test product
    • Prepare product for launches and shows
    • Restore condition of launch/ demo product for resale

“Strip For Parts”

Where parts required are not available from Parts Department:

• Notify Technical Managers on parts required
• Strip part from stock item
• Follow up on order/ delivery process
• Reassemble stock item
• Report completion to Technical Managers

Maintain awareness of Marine Division events for support purposes:

• Attend events
• Provide technical support
• Prepare products for product shows and assist exhibitors
