SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate for this position will ideally have a technical degree or diploma. At least 5 years’ experience in the construction field with project planning and product allocation knowledge. Experience in the water treatment industry and exposure to a drawing office would be an advantage.

POSITION INFO:

Manage, co-ordinate and be responsible for the smooth running of the project planning/schedules and associated internal resource allocations. Develop time plans on various projects to ensuring that the projects are completed safely, on time and within budget. The scheduler will report to the General Manager for project delivery.

Requirements:

a)    B. Eng./Bsc/B Tech Civil/Mech/Chemical Engineering Qualification (advantageous not required)

b)    Professional Registration PMP/PMI-SP or similar would be advantageous

c)    Construction experience

d)    MS Projects/Primavera/CCS Training

e)    Exposure to a drawing office environment advantageous.

f)      Ideally have a minimum of 5 years of experience using MS Project or Primavera P3 or P6 and MS Excel preferably working on water/wastewater treatment projects or any other process plants.

g)    Must have a minimum of 5 years of construction programme / planning experience

h)    Subject matter expertise using MS Project to manage an integrated master schedule and the supporting detailed schedules

j)      Must be extremely proficient in MS Office

k)     Able to do planning from first principles

l)     Must be computer literate  (MS Project and Primavera)

m)    Good organisational skills.

n)    Strong Verbal and written communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage, co-ordinate and be responsible for the smooth running of the project planning/schedules and associated internal resource allocations. Develop time plans on various projects to ensuring that the projects are completed safely, on time and within budget. The scheduler will report to the General Manager for project delivery. 

a)    Be responsible for the overall planning function of the company.

b)    Create, maintain, review and administer construction schedules and plans

c)     Liaising with managers and engineers to discuss the progress of the project and address any issues that arise

d)    Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to organize the phases of the construction development and integrate schedules into the master project schedule

e)    Liaise with internal divisional managers regarding resource allocation to projects and identify any potential bottlenecks early for appropriate intervention in order to maintain project delivery.

f)      Keep the client team up to date on progress including presentation to the client

g)    Present information for internal meetings on the project

h)    Problem solving

i)      Produce tender plans to support bids

j)      Provide assistance in legal claims for extension of time.

k)     Provide planning assistance to other departments when necessary.                                                                                    

Responsibilities:         

a)    Work closely with Owner, Designers and Project Managers to develop and maintain detailed resource loaded schedules projects using MS Project or other relevant software as may be dictated by the client.

b)    Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, base line, status, and perform measurement baseline.

c)     Establish and issue key dates schedule by date agreed upon with Projects Manager

d)    Develop and maintain summary level schedule reports: Gantt, S-curves, milestone charts, and other tools used to support critical path analysis, near-term tasks work, priority-based resource allocations, performance variances, and to support cost/schedule integration.Establish critical paths, freeze project schedule and issue a baseline document

e)    Integration of subcontractor and supplier programme into project network

f)     Assist the project team in developing recovery plans as the need may arise.

g)    Gather and analyse information to prepare reports on the progress of projects. Frequent on-site visits to review construction progress required.

h)    Participate in monthly progress report

i)      Facilitate and participate in weekly schedule reviews.

j)    Verification, preparation and issuing of discipline schedules by date agreed upon.

k)    Establish productivity norms and standards for all disciplines in liaison with cost engineering

l)      Set up control curves

m)      Training of Project Managers and tendering team to learn, or increase skills in, project scheduling company wide.

n)     Work in collaboration with project management team to drive consistency of the project scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting.

o)      Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems.

p)     Maintain accurate records/paperwork.

q)    Ensure that commissioning considerations are established and catered for in the project schedule during baseline development.

r)    Update schedules on a weekly basis or as directed by the Project Managers.

s)    Revise schedules when required.

t)    Measure and report on progress.

u)    Prepare Look-ahead Schedules.

v)     Assist with setting up procurement plans in accordance with project schedules and manage the procurement plan.

w)    Attend supplier kick-off meetings and give advice on supplier lead-times in accordance with the project schedules.
