Mechanical Design Draughtsman

SUMMARY:
Our client, a specialist company in the mining industry is on the lookout for a detailed and technically orientated Mechanical Design Draughtsman that will be based in the Johannesburg area.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Matric.
• Draughtsman related qualification.
• At least 3 years’ experience in the mining industry with a focus on hoisting equipment.
• Essential: Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault experience (3D CAD).

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, hoists, using Autodesk Inventor (3D CAD) and Autodesk Vault.
• Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, detail components systems, and to resolve design problems.
• Review and analyse specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs.
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery.
• Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items, such as hoist components.
• Check dimensions of materials to be used.
• Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
• Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
• Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Shade or colour drawings to clarify and emphasize details and dimensions and eliminate background.
• Visit sites to measure certain criteria.
