SUMMARY:
Defence & Military Vehicle Industry A leading organisation within the defence and military vehicle manufacturing sector is seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Engineer with proven, hands-on mechanical design expertise in military vehicle development.

POSITION INFO:

This is a critical senior role for an engineer who has been directly involved in the design and development of military and armoured vehicles, not only at concept level but through to production.

🎓 Minimum Qualifications:

• BEng Mechanical Engineering (essential)

🔧 Essential Experience:

• 5–10 years’ hands-on mechanical design experience in military or armoured vehicle development (non-negotiable)
• Proven track record of successfully completed military vehicle design projects
• Strong working knowledge of military vehicle systems and subsystems:
• Suspension systems
• Powertrains & drivetrains
• Cooling packs
• Armour integration
• Vehicle-level system integration
• In-depth understanding of MIL-STD and NATO standards
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in defence vehicle production
• Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)

• Lead the full mechanical design and development of military and armoured vehicles
• Drive continuous improvement of existing vehicle platforms

• Apply advanced expertise in suspension, armour, drivetrain, and vehicle systems integration
• Ensure technical feasibility, durability, and operational performance

🔹 Project Ownership

• Oversee design phases from concept through production
• Ensure compliance with military specifications and defence regulations
• Manage timelines, budgets, and technical deliverables

🔹 Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with project engineers, production teams, and draughtsmen
• Ensure designs meet operational and performance requirements

🔹 Team Leadership

• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers
• Provide technical direction and maintain high engineering standards
