A leading engineering and manufacturing business in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join its dynamic team. POSITION INFO:

ey Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
Perform design calculations, simulations, and product testing.
Improve existing products for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
Work closely with production, procurement, and project teams to ensure successful implementation of designs.
Participate in prototype development, commissioning, and problem-solving activities.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements

BSc Mechanical Engineering or BEng Mechanical Engineering (essential).
3+ years’ experience in mechanical design engineering within manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial environments.
Strong proficiency in CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar.
Sound understanding of materials, fabrication processes, stress analysis, and mechanical systems.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines.

Advantageous

Experience in piping systems, pressure equipment, lifting systems, or structural design.
Knowledge of FEA analysis and project engineering principles.
Exposure to manufacturing and assembly environments.
