Mechanical Design Engineer

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical building services systems for a variety of projects. Produce HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and associated mechanical engineering designs. Prepare technical reports, specifications, calculations, schedules, and construction documentation. Coordinate designs with electrical, wet services, fire protection, structural, civil, and architectural teams. Conduct site inspections and attend project and client meetings. Ensure compliance with relevant South African and international engineering standards. Participate in project planning, budgeting, and programme management activities. Support the delivery of sustainable and energy-efficient engineering solutions. Review drawings and models produced by draughting and BIM teams. Assist in mentoring junior engineers and technicians where required. Minimum Requirements BEng \/ BSc \/ BTech in Mechanical Engineering. 3 - 10 years' experience within a consulting engineering environment. Proven experience in mechanical building services design. Strong HVAC design experience. Proficiency in industry-standard design software. Knowledge of local building regulations and engineering standards. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Experience Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) or progress towards registration. Exposure to large-scale commercial, healthcare, hospitality, retail, mixed-use, data centre, or industrial developments. Experience working within multidisciplinary consulting engineering teams. Familiarity with BIM coordination and Revit MEP. Experience in energy efficiency and sustainable building design principles.
