Mechanical Designer - light-duty utility vehicles to heavy-duty utility vehicles

SUMMARY:
Our client who designs and manufactures light-duty utility vehicles to heavy-duty utility vehicles and a number of special-purpose vehicles, ideally in the mining sector is looking for a Mechanical Designer. Are you willing to relocate as or client is based in Nelspruit?

POSITION INFO:

PURPOSE OF JOB

Manage and coordinate design activities on designs allocated to the person ranging in the business ranging from concepts to final designs with a strong emphasis on providing accurate, timeous information for other departments (e.g. procurement, fabrication, assembly, sales)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide concepts based on customer requirements, technical specifications, and standard products in the client product range.

Provide suitable detailed technical component selection and specifications for equipment to be supplied (design & manufacture) to ensure that all equipment manufactured by the company is technically sound and performs according to specification.

Implementation of Standardisation on component, sub-assembly, and major assembly levels.

Lead and manage “Value Engineering” to ensure that our equipment designs and specifications are a cost-effective and potential competitive advantage.

Provide detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings for components to be procured and equipment to be manufactured (including hydraulics & electric schematics). Most essential is stress analysis on the product once manufactured. 

The company works on various pc programs one being Solid works, please this is not for a draughtsman but a Mechanical Designer also advanced Ms excel required

BTech in Mechanical design or a related diploma
