Mechanical Draughtsman

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Draughtsman to join their team in George, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, liaising with clients and internal departments, and supporting production processes through high-quality draughting and design work.

POSITION INFO:
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Interpret work orders, sketches, and written or verbal instructions to determine project requirements. Perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. Program and maintain current file revisions for all client parts and drawings. Prepare detailed standardised work instructions and setup sheets. Process customer drawing requirements accurately and efficiently. Liaise with customers to ensure drawings are correct and suitable for manufacturing purposes. Handle and maintain all relevant project documentation and paperwork. Communicate effectively with various departments regarding current projects and production requirements. Liaise directly with clients when required. Assist with concept design, production design, and technical draughting. Work closely with the costing and production departments to support manufacturing processes. Produce fabrication drawings according to required standards and procedures. Ensure all drawings and work instructions remain accurate and up to date. Maintain quality standards for products and services while identifying opportunities for improvement. Minimum Requirements: Proven experience working as a Mechanical Draughtsman. Relevant tertiary qualification in Draughting or a related field. National Senior Certificate. Valid driver's licence. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong spatial awareness and technical understanding. Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Additional Requirements: Must be able to reliably commute to George, Western Cape, or be willing to relocate before commencement of employment. Fluent in both English and Afrikaans.
