Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY:
A renowned organisation providing products and services to the mining sector is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with substantial design experience gained within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate should have experience designing and reviewing mechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods. The client would like candidates registered with ECSA.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Satisfaction

• Define/ensure projects are completed within agreed time frames and overall customer satisfaction of end result of projects is measured

Production Support

• Support product divisions with automation, selection of manufacturing equipment and technologies
• Assist with production mould issues / problems / designs and identify opportunities for improving production methods and ergonomics

Design

• Complete product development which enhances performance and reduces costs 
• Complete new product design as per customer request or approved innovation and formal report details results

Testing, Analysis and Material Science

• Material selection and specification is analysed, tested and compared to other materials and a report is produced for approval
• Compile appropriate material standards and specifications and make them available and maintained
• Complete failure analyses in time and report on

Engineering Projects

• Complete projects in accordance with agreed customer expectations (SOW, Time and Standard)
• Identify and store all project related documentation(i.e. correspondence, meeting minutes, contracts, purchase orders, reports) per project (hard copies and/or electronically) as per departmental standards

Compliance

• Maintain the Quality Management system in accordance to the Multotec Quality policy and objectives
• Maintain Technical Specifications, Markings and Drawings as per departmental standards
• Assess and review welding specifications and methods and ensure Safety Management of MM is adhered to
• Evaluate equipment and production methods in order to improve safety
• Site related safety issues are noted and dealt with or escalated to relevant parties

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BSc/BEng Mechanical Engineering Degree / Master’s degree will be advantageous
• Registration as Professional Engineer will be advantageous
• At least 4 years relevant mechanical engineering experience
• Project Management experience is an advantage
