POSITION INFO:
A leading large-scale underground mining operation in Zambia requires a Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on leadership across shaft and winder systems on a 3-4 month contract. The role focuses on improving reliability, availability, and maintenance performance in a high-output production environment, with a structured FIFO rotation of 3 weeks on \/ 1 week off. Duties\/Key Responsibilities: Oversee mechanical integrity of shaft and winder systems across multiple shafts Drive reliability and availability improvements through practical engineering interventions Optimise maintenance practices and support CMMS\/SAP-based maintenance processes Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical leadership on site Engage with site engineering teams to stabilise and improve operational performance Requirements: Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent) Strong background in mining or heavy industrial environments Experience with maintenance systems (SAP or similar CMMS) Comfortable with FIFO\/site-based work (3:1 rotation) Ability to operate in a short-term, high-impact contract environment Education: Degree\/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Professional registration advantageous Soft Skills: Practical, hands-on approach Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Resilient and adaptable under operational pressure Strong problem-solving mindset The salary is open for discussion and will be market related in line with your qualifications, skills and experience.
