Mechanical Sales Engineer (Thermal Coating/Refurbishment)

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Thermal Spray Coatings/Refurbishment sector requires a Mechanical Sales Engineer, Johannesburg

POSITION INFO:

Objectives:

• Provide Thermal Spray Coating Solutions to SA, Zambia, and Southern Africa  
• Portfolio: Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) cladding, laser cladding and extensive product refurbishment services
• Industries: Multiple industries

Requirements:

• Previous work experience at Eskom or Sasol
• Minimum 5 - 10 years previous work experience as a technical sales engineer
• Knowledge and experience in surface engineering and coatings (preferable)
• Understanding of Breakdowns in the power generation industry
• Own Transport
• Experience in general manufacturing and maintenance
• Engineering workshop, machining and grinding experience.
• Experience working with ISO 9001 quality management system.
• Basic CAD experience
• Microsoft Office
• Be able to use all mechanical measuring equipment
• Understand and interpret technical drawings
• Understanding of basic welding processes
• Must work well under pressure, keep to deadlines and be willing to work extended hours from time to time to meet deadlines.
• Exposure to sales processes beneficial
• Must be able to communicate well with people, from sales to engineers.

Qualification:

• National Diploma, BTech or BSc Degree: in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Physics

Job specification:

• Report directly to the Managing Director
• Able to operate largely independently.
• Be able to liaise with customers, specify solutions and quote.
• Manage customers from quote to payment.
• Prepare quotes within 24 hours of inquiry  
• Negotiate tenders, contract terms and conditions to meet client and company needs.
• Give timeous and proper feedback to customers on delivery dates
• Achieve agreed sales target  
• Develop sales plan and review weekly with MD.
• Remains current in terms of all technologies relevant to the industry.

Package is highly competitive with a substantial commission-based part.
