The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor for a 12-month fixed term contract for our client in Mpumalanga.

 

To manage Contractor Construction Supervisors for a project or area within a project, controlling all contractor activities via a Multi-Disciplinary team for the construction execution of the project on site.

Interfacing to the relevant Engineering, PCO, SHE, Procurement, Risk and Project Management functions as required and according to the relevant PEP and Procedures.

 

Minimum educational level:                                                      

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• B Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• Trade Tested Artisan

 

We require the following work experience:

• Min 5 Yearâ??s work experience in Construction
• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Adhere to SHEC programs at times (toolbox talks, audits etc.)
• Report incidents and accidents immediately to direct superior according to set procedures
• Inspect tools and equipment daily prior to being used, according to SHEC practices and statutory requirements

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Manager with compiling Scope of work
• Process Appointments and assure adherence to Legal requirements of Contractors
• Ensure task completion is aligned with critical project constraints ito time, cost, quality and adherence to Scope of Work
• Measure progress and ensure timely and accurate feedback
• Co-ordinate relocation of ad-hoc site resources / activities
• Follow-up on deliveries of free-issue equipment
• Develop, maintain and improve safe operational standards
• Ensure effective enforcement and implementation of legal and procedural compliance
• Conduct timeous investigation of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action is implemented
• Ensure effective risk management by identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures on a continuous basis
• Promote teamwork, provide support and manage employee and contractor performance and relationships
• Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in operations
• High focus on daily SHE inspections
• Monthly audits on every contractor
• Hours management of own and contractor teams
• Legal appointments in place per contractor and own team
• Follow the PEP chapter
• Personal protective equipment is worn at times
• Ensure that work area is cleaned and environment restored to its original state after completion of a job
