About the Role
Advanced Water Treatment Solutions company has a vacancy for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment at Vaal Triangle site. This includes troubleshooting, repairs, and ensuring optimal plant performance in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, the Mine Health and Safety Act, and relevant safety standards

POSITION INFO:
What you'll be doing - Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: o Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections of pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, tanks, and walkways. o Carry out lubrication, filter changes, and equipment adjustments as per OEM specifications. o Diagnose and resolve equipment faults to reduce plant downtime. - Operational Support: o Monitor equipment performance: flow rates, pressures, bearing temperatures, etc. o Assist with installation, modification, and optimisation of mechanical systems. o Supervise high-risk tasks requiring permits (hot work, confined spaces, lifting). - Documentation & Reporting: o Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair histories. o Log maintenance data for ISO and internal reporting. o Recommend improvements based on failure trends and analysis. o Coordinate with procurement to ensure spare parts availability. - Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Compliance: o Adhere to site and legal safety protocols. o Wear required PPE, including mining-specific protective gear. o Participate in safety inspections and report incidents or hazards immediately. o Maintain clean and safe work areas. What you'll need - Education: o Matric (Grade 12). o Trade Test Certificate (Fitter, Turner or equivalent), or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. - Experience: o Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in mechanical systems maintenance within industrial\/water treatment or mining environments. - License & Other Requirements: o Valid Code B Driver's License. o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings. o Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite). o Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and participate in standby rotation. - Technical Skills: o In-depth knowledge of pumps, valves, filters, compressors, gearboxes, reverse osmosis systems, tanks, piping, and rotating equipment. o Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability for hydraulic and pneumatic systems. o Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. - Safety & Compliance: o Adherence to site-specific Health, Safety and Environmental protocols. o Certifications: Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Hand and Power Tool Training. o Familiarity with ISO documentation and maintenance logs. o Risk assessment and permit-to-work knowledge (hot works, lifting, confined spaces).
