Media Centre Assistant

SUMMARY:
Our client in the education sector has a Media Centre Assistant post available. 

The candidate must be able to work under pressure and possess proven qualities such as empathy, organisational skills, teamwork skills and excellent communication skills.

The aim of the job: 

To ensure that the media centre is always attended to, maintained, and learners' needs are addressed.

POSITION INFO:
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:

The duties and responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

Media Centre

• Preparing the computers in the Media Centre for various educational activities. This includes the cleaning of computers, as well as the physical arrangement of computers to facilitate educational activities.
• Maintenance of the media centre by ensuring that all items are in the right place.
• Issuing various media items (e.g. CD players) to teachers as required for different educational activities.
• Assist the librarian and other teachers in various activities in the media centre (e.g. laminating

• Assist children in the use of various media (e.g. books, etc.)
• Issuing of books to children by using the system in operation.
• Supervision of children in the Media Centre while they are using various media items to ensure the correct use of various items.

• Preparing sports refreshments for staff and learners.
• Assist with the purchase of ground staff uniforms.

• Assist with the preparation before and clearing up afterwards as required and negotiated with the function coordinator, school secretary or relevant person.

• Report and, where possible, remove all hazards, which could cause injury to the learners, staff and visitors to Bryneven Primary School, even if identified outside your area of responsibility or as instructed.

• Report the status of all tasks in progress or completed within your area of responsibility to the deputy principal
• Issuing cleaning materials to various members of the ground staff for them to be able to do their duties.
• Ensure that all items issued are recorded in the issue book, using the correct method. This requires that all people who make use of items issued in this way sign for what they are getting, and where necessary, sign upon the return of an item.
• Assist with any other duties assigned to you by SMT

• National senior certificate/ Grade 12
• Diploma in administration or related field
• Library experience in a school environment advantageous
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to collaborate with learners, teachers, and other stakeholders.
• Passion for promoting reading and lifelong learning.
• Patience, problem-solving, and adaptability to new technologies.
