SUMMARY:
Background:

• The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (Wits PHRU) was established in 1996
• The Perinatal HIV Research Unit has been involved in research, training, policy formation, and advocacy in issues concerning HIV-positive women and their children
• In recent years, the work of the unit has expanded beyond the original focus of mother-to-child transmission of HIV

POSITION INFO:
Main purpose of the job:

• To provide comprehensive medical care/clinical support to participants in HIV Prevention (and similar) clinical trials at the PHRU

• PHRU, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto

• Provision of clinical care to patients and participants
• Accurate and comprehensive medical record keeping
• Management of patient/participant flow in the clinic
• Clinical trial conduct as delegated by the principal investigator

• Medical Degree - MBCHB or MBBCH

• HPCSA registration

• At least two-year’s experience in a clinical environment (can be inclusive of internship/community service time)
• Must be able to start work immediately (preferably)

• Must be registered with MPS
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subjects Protection (or equivalent) Certification
• Research experienced with experience in HIV Prevention trials, HIV treatment and General patient care
• Empathy and understanding
• Excellent clinical skills
• Computer literacy using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
