Job Title: Microsoft SharePoint Developer Location: Johannesburg, South Africa Department: Chief Technology and Information Office (CTIO) Overall Purpose of the Job: The Microsoft SharePoint Developer is responsible for the development, administration, support, and optimisation of the company''s SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 environments. The role ensures that SharePoint platforms, collaboration sites, workflows, and integrations are secure, reliable, and aligned with business requirements, while supporting digital transformation through effective information management, process automation, and user enablement. Education (Formal Qualification Required): Minimum A relevant National Diploma \/ Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related ICT qualification. Relevant Microsoft SharePoint \/ Microsoft 365 certifications (preferably not older than 5 years). Ideal Bachelor's Degree or advanced qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field. Advanced certifications in Microsoft 365 \/ SharePoint Administration or Development, Power Platform (Power Automate \/ Power Apps) and Microsoft Azure fundamentals or related cloud technologies. Requirements: Minimum Valid Code 8 Driver's License Training and Knowledge: Minimum Working knowledge of: SharePoint Online and\/or SharePoint Server administration Microsoft 365 services and collaboration tools SharePoint permissions, security, and governance Power Automate and workflow automation SharePoint Designer \/ PowerShell scripting SharePoint site architecture, libraries, lists, metadata, and document management Integration with enterprise systems and Microsoft ecosystem tools Ideal Knowledge of: Power Apps and Power BI integration Nintex workflows\/forms (if applicable) HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and custom SharePoint development Active Directory \/ Entra ID integration Information governance, records management, and data protection requirements Disaster recovery and backup approaches for SharePoint environments Experience: Minimum Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in SharePoint development, configuration, administration, and support. Experience in SharePoint Online and\/or SharePoint Server environments. Experience in Microsoft 365 application environments. Experience in workflow automation using Power Automate, SharePoint Designer, and\/or Nintex (where applicable). Experience in customisation and scripting using PowerShell, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Working experience in Microsoft-based infrastructure and network administration environments. Experience integrating SharePoint with enterprise systems such as Microsoft 365, IMIS, Sage, or other line-of-business systems KPA \/ Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position: Platform Administration & Configuration Install, configure, and maintain SharePoint environments (Online and\/or Server) Manage site collections, subsites, document libraries, lists, and metadata structures Implement and manage SharePoint services including Central Administration, Search, and User Profile Service Manage user permissions, access controls, and security settings Develop and deploy custom solutions using SharePoint Designer, Power Automate, and PowerShell Collaborate with ICT teams to integrate SharePoint with enterprise systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, IMIS, Sage) Monitor system performance, conduct routine audits, and implement best practices Provide technical support and training to end-users Maintain documentation for governance, usage policies, and system configurations Support disaster recovery planning and backup operations for SharePoint environments Lead or contribute to SharePoint-related projects, including intranet development and process automation Security & Access Management Develop and enforce SharePoint governance standards for site creation, content management, retention, and user access. Administer permissions, group policies, role-based access controls, and security settings. Integrate SharePoint with Active Directory \/ Entra ID and Identity Access Management (IAM) protocols. Ensure compliance with ICT policies, information security requirements, audit standards, and data protection regulations. Monitor and respond to security vulnerabilities, permission risks, and unauthorised access issues. Workflow Automation & Integration Design and implement workflow automation using Power Automate, SharePoint Designer, and Nintex (if applicable). Integrate SharePoint with enterprise systems such as Microsoft 365, IMIS, Sage, and other business applications. Support digital transformation initiatives by identifying automation opportunities and improving business process efficiency. Assist with data flows, connectors, interface configurations, and system interoperability. Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting Conduct routine health checks, capacity planning, performance tuning, and environment optimisation. Monitor logs, diagnostics, usage analytics, and platform alerts. Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint incidents, defects, configuration issues, workflow failures, and integration problems. Escalate and coordinate complex issues with infrastructure teams, Microsoft support, or service providers where necessary. User Support & Training Provide Tier 2 \/ Tier 3 support for SharePoint-related incidents, service requests, and escalations. Support users with site functionality, permissions, document libraries, workflow usage, and platform best practices. Develop user guides, knowledge articles, training materials, and conduct workshops where required. Act as a liaison between CTIO and business units to translate functional requirements into SharePoint solutions. Development & Customization Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint-based solutions to meet business requirements. Create and maintain custom web parts, forms, page layouts, templates, and branding components. Use SharePoint Designer, PowerShell, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related tools for development and customisation. Support the development of intranet portals, document workflows, and collaboration solutions. Collaborate with developers and technical teams to deploy and maintain custom SharePoint applications and enhancements. Reporting & Documentation Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, workflows, integrations, governance structures, and system architecture. Generate reports on usage analytics, compliance metrics, access reviews, incidents, and system performance. Support internal audits, ICT risk assessments, backup reviews, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery testing.
