NPD Project Manager - Howick
Our client is seeking an organised and detail-oriented NPD Project Manager to oversee New Product Development (NPD) and packaging projects.

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities

• Lead NPD and packaging projects from concept to launch, ensuring efficient execution within established timelines and budget constraints
• Manage the NPD budget, ensuring cost optimisation and maximum return on investment
• Administer the NPD management system in alignment with FSSC 22000 certification
• Develop strong relationships with external suppliers and manage supplier assets, quotations, and printing timelines
• Coordinate with internal teams (Food Technologists, Procurement, Marketing, Food Safety, Production, and R&D) to ensure project success
• Monitor project progress, communicate updates to stakeholders, and ensure meeting strategic timelines and deadlines
• Oversee commercial costings, adjusting where necessary in collaboration with the cost accountant
• Support the marketing team with packaging/product updates, as well as design changes
• Negotiate with suppliers and third parties to ensure fair value and drive successful project outcomes
• Receive NPD projects from Marketing EXCO and support from the Marketing Manager, reporting directly to them
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including Sales and Finance, to achieve project goals and stay within budget

• Degree or diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Globally recognised PMP, PMI or Project Management certification (Preferred)
• 3–5 years of experience in NPD, packaging, and print production, preferably within the FMCG or confectionery industry
• Strong understanding of supply chain processes and FMCG trends
• Proven experience in budgeting and cost management
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within South Africa
