National Credit & Risk Manager

POSITION INFO:
An established organisation is seeking an experienced National Credit & Risk Manager to lead its credit, collections, and risk management function. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing credit risk across multiple entities while supporting business growth and maintaining strong cash flow performance. Key Responsibilities: Credit Risk Management Evaluate and authorise credit applications in line with internal policies and risk frameworks. Assess customer creditworthiness through financial analysis, credit bureau reports, and supporting documentation. Manage credit insurance applications and ensure appropriate risk cover is maintained. Review and approve customer credit limits while ensuring compliance with governance requirements. Debtors & Collections Management Oversee the management of high-risk and overdue accounts. Lead the resolution of complex debtor queries and payment disputes. Negotiate repayment arrangements and settlements where necessary. Monitor debtor ageing and implement strategies to improve collections and reduce exposure. Legal Recoveries & Insolvency Processes Coordinate legal action on delinquent accounts through attorneys and collection agencies. Manage debt recovery processes involving business rescue and liquidation matters. Recommend bad debt provisions and write-offs in line with company policy. Credit Control Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the Credit Control team. Establish and monitor departmental objectives, procedures, and performance standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to company policies and controls. Provide regular reporting and insights to executive management. Credit Insurance & Trade Finance Manage relationships with credit insurers and brokers. Oversee credit insurance claims and credit limit approvals. Manage trade finance facilities and monitor associated credit risk exposure. Ensure alignment between credit facilities, insurance cover, and customer exposure. Working Capital Management Support cash flow optimisation through forecasting and debtor management. Authorise banking transactions in accordance with approved mandates. Contribute to working capital improvement initiatives across the business. Job Experience and Skills Required: Diploma in Credit Management or Risk Management (NQF Level 6). BCom Degree in Credit Management, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field will be advantageous. Minimum 15 years' experience within a credit management environment. At least 5 years' experience managing a credit or risk function at a senior level. Proven experience in credit risk assessment, collections, legal recoveries, trade finance, and credit insurance.
