National Fleet / Safety Manager - Food Manufacturing Industry

SUMMARY:
A well-known Food Manufacturing and Distribution Company requires the above to establish, maintain, monitor and enhance systems, infrastructure and processes that ensure efficient and smooth operations of distribution and transport.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A tertiary qualification in Transport or related qualification is preferred.
• Previous experience having worked as a Fleet Manager managing a large fleet of trucks and vehicles working for a distribution or related company is essential for this role.
• Previous experience having managed and overseen all safety procedures within the distribution and transport industries are preferred for this role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensuring the implementation and development of policies and procedures for the transportation operations on a national basis.
• Ensuring the fleet is maintained and in a good operating condition in order for the Company to meet its objectives efficiently and cost effectively.
• Complying with legislation by ensuring all fleet vehicles are roadworthy and registered.
• Performing regular benchmarking with Service Providers to ensure competitive pricing in respect of repairs and maintenance.
• Liaising with financial institutions with regards to fleet management system in order to control and manage fleet expenses more effectively.
• Liaising with the Insurance Broker with regards to insurance claims.
• Planning, developing and implementing a national security strategy at all depots.
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment for Customers and employees.
• Managing, overseeing and coordinating with the Dispatch Manager on the various operational functions of dispatch.
• Managing the compliance of the Company’s health and safety, ensuring all staff are aware of the importance thereof and to follow safety protocol.
• Implementing practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practises in the workplace.
• Conducting all risk assessments as required by legislation and ensuring they are reviewed at relevant intervals and maintained.
• Conducting and carrying out internal and compliance audits at all depots and reporting any major non-conformances to the Managing Director.
• Assisting with the implementation and sustainability of food safety activities.
• Reporting any non-conformances to the Food Safety Manager
