Our client is seeking for a skilled and proactive Natural Adbas Developer to join their IT team in Johannesburg East where you will focus on improving current systems and supporting the stability and efficiency of mainframe applications
POSITION INFO:

Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain application software along with related documentation.
- Follow established development methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Assess the feasibility and impact of new development or changes.
- Analyze business requirements and design system architecture and interfaces accordingly.
- Write, test, troubleshoot, and deploy program modules and applications.
- Improve and support existing software solutions to meet evolving needs.
- Adhere to formal change control and deployment processes.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date technical documents and user manuals.
- Deliver technical support to ensure smooth system operations and uptime.
- Investigate system issues and develop appropriate action plans.
- Identify and map out business processes and data flows to align with strategic goals.
- Train end-users and mentor team members on system functionality and usage.
- Conduct code reviews and provide guidance to junior developers.
- Support system integration efforts and assist with successful implementation.
Job experience and skills required:
- Grade 12 & relevant tertiary education
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience in Natural/Adabas development.
- Solid background in both BATCH and online processing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, implement, and support mainframe-based applications.
- Skilled in conducting code reviews, with experience guiding and mentoring junior developers.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with both stakeholders and team members.
- Guide junior developers by reviewing their code to ensure it meets quality standards and follows best practices.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends and advancements in systems development methodologies.
- Takes initiative and works independently with strong motivation.
- Adaptable, reliable, and accountable in all responsibilities.
- Approaches problems with clear, logical thinking and good decision-making skills.
