JOB SUMMARY:
New Business Development Consultant position available in Illovo within the travel and tourism environment. The primary responsibilities include achieving and exceeding personal targets in new business and ensuring mutually profitable long-term relationships are built with clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements:
  • Matric Essential.
  • Previous “hunting” sales experience is essential.
  • Experience in travel (advantage).
  • Knowledge of CRM system (advantage).
  • Contacts in the travel industry (advantage).
  • Ability to prospect new business.
  • High-level negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of the travel industry.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Internet, Email, CRM).
  • Good written and telephonic communication skills
Duties and responsibilities:
New Business Development
  • New Business development is the priority.
  • Research potential clients and bring in new business in accordance with monthly targets.
  • Meet face-to-face with target clients.
  • Identify potential new markets and revenue earning areas.
  • Build effective customer relationships, resulting in increased business and a high barrier of entry to competitors.
  • Have a clear understanding of advertising / media, the industry and the various players / segments and identify customers’ needs and service expectations.
  • Professional, accurate, and effective internal reporting (activities, sales, industry trends, competitor activity, and client movements).
All Business
  • Liaise with editorial and production teams to be the “champion” of the clients so that clients’ news is covered, and their ads are effective.
  • Ensure that clients are visited and spoken to on a regular basis.
  • Advise clients of any features relevant to their business.
  • Assist ad coordinator (if necessary) to make sure clients supply material on time or approve material generated by the company for them before deadlines.
  • Build strong long-term relationships by working with advertising decision-makers, understanding their needs, and suggesting promotional solutions.
Promotions and Brand Development
  • Attending client/industry functions, trade shows, and exhibitions.
  • Maintain a high commitment to customer focus and the creation of value-add. This requires a detailed understanding of industry trends and customer needs.
  • Ensure products and services are high quality. We seek a professional and service-oriented business ethic.
  • Be an ambassador for the company (i.e. making clients aware of other company products).
  • Maintain good relationships with Advertising Agencies.
Administration & General
  • Timeous chasing up of contacts, financial documents, and completed work.
  • Correct calculation of own monthly commission, including reversals Timeous and consistent CRM entries.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept of client information on CRM.
  • Work as a team player to improve the team’s productivity.
  • Assist with special projects when necessary.
  • Maintain effective and proactive internal relationships with other company departments.
  • Development of sales role through training, attending all relevant and compulsory courses. Identifying self-development opportunities.
