Operations Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client a leading international manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team.

POSITION INFO:

The following Key Performance Areas are covered by the position:

• Implement Branch Operations goals applicable to area of responsibility effectively and efficiently
• Accountable for Branch Operations departmental performance, within the agreed strategic framework and approved plans
• Evaluate the business plan, set Branch Operations targets and develop an operational plan to ensure approved objectives are achieved
• Effectively manage Branch Operations department and its objectives in line with approved budgets (operational, capex and labour)
• Conduct workforce planning to ensure departments are suitably staffed to meet strategic functional objectives
• Anticipate change and align reporting and information requirements. Forecast deviations and take proactive action
• Evaluate negative trends and introduce remedial solutions
• Assess/review and authorise payments in line with approved budget and policy for processing.  Assess variances as required and monitor remedial action within span of control
• Take accountability for the implementation and communication of health, safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance to the Group safety objectives and ensure that the Business Unit / Branch fully complies with all relevant legislation
• Monitor and ensure adherence to statutory regulations, international (ISO) and organisational standards, policies and procedures
• Ensure maintenance of plant and equipment according to standards
• Identify, implement and review Continuous Improvement projects
• Manage, monitor and maintain set inventory levels within area of control
• Take accountability for the Planning and Production departments
• Plan, monitor and review production outputs in line with agreed objectives
• Develop and coach team members and encourage knowledge transfer
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies and procedures within span of control and monitor implementation to ensure full compliance
• Monitor and review equipment availability to meet Business Unit / Branch goals
• Safeguard assets against loss and/or damages and implement remedial actions

Required Qualifications / Experience

• NQF Level 6 Diploma / Advance Certificate in Operations Management essential
• NQF Level 7 3 year degree / Advanced diploma in Industrial Engineering is advantageous
• Must be fully computer literate – MS Office, SAP
• Understanding of ERP system related (PP, SD, TM, MM, PM modules), barcode scanning, electronic content manage and electronic product test certificates.
• 7 Years experience in an operational environment with 5 years in a managerial position
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, be persuasive and possess excellent change management and decision making skills Excellent planning, organisational and problem solving skills Good
