Operations Manager

Knowledge/Education Requirements:

- Matric Certificate/ Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Science);
- Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or Extraction Metallurgy Degree;
- Minimum 10 years post qualification experience on metallurgical plants and projects, within a
supervisory / management position;
- PGM flotation and chrome recovery plant experience is compulsory;

Experience and Requirements:
- Experience with planning and maintenance functions (and others as required) to ensure production
targets and budget are achieved;
- Good computer literacy (MS Office), administration and housekeeping skills are essential;
- Valid medical fitness certificate - Fit for movement in plants;
- Code 8 driver’s license and own transport;
- Highly developed leadership, communication, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to
work effectively with people at all levels of the organization;

Major Tasks of the Job:
- Develop resource and production strategy to coordinate ore and services to the Operations;
- Effective management of the operations and production planning to optimize cost and recoveries;
- Coordinate, develop, implement and lead activities of the operational Plants/sections;
- Maintain Process recipe;
- Risk Management of the Operations;
- Manage and implementation of company safety standards, code of practices, systems and
procedures in accordance with guidelines as set out in the acts;
- Manage and develop of operating plans, budgets and, schedules;
- Identify ongoing capital requirements;
- Management and implementation of necessary systems;
- Community and stakeholder engagement;
- Creating a high performing team and a conducive employee relations climate - people management
(HR and IR) in a unionized environment;
- Select, train and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with
exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunities;
- Develop the work force to be competent in all areas of operating activities;
- Ensures adherence to legislative requirements and the company’s Health and Safety Standards
- Responsible for research and development;
- Maintain good Customer Relationship Management with our client at host-mine and liaise on all
relevant operational issues;
- Implement actions to maximise synergies between plants;
- Review safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports to prepare a plan of action;
